India doesn't have quite the same safety standards as we're used to in America...there is no consumer safety advocates lobbying the government to make sure that products are safe or that certain standards and requirements are met. This leads to a lot of things that can seem appalling to foreigners but that Indians don't bat an eye at. A few examples...

1. Here is a picture of Sutton in his new "exersaucer" play toy that Brent bought him off of the side of the street. You probably can't tell in the picture but it's got these metal legs that look like a mousetrap and janky wheels and you can't actually let him sit in it unless you hold on to the bottom of it because it will just tip right over. The funny thing is, he loves it! So I just sit on the floor with him and hold on to it so he can play in it! And as an added bonus it's pink- the only color they had!!

2. Here is a playground we went to... if you look closely, you can tell that at the bottom of each slide and under the monkey bars, etc. it is just concrete. No wood chips or grass or anything to soften the blow if there's a fall. We had to re-direct the kids to another part of the park because a spill (which is inevitable) would've led to an injury.
There's lots of other examples..some that are pretty funny... but I'm going to stop the list before grandparents read this post and start worrying instead of laughing! :)

Good idea to stop writing about the safety issues. I was hyperventilating after reading about Sutton being in something he could tip over....and...then you tell us about the slide where concrete is at the bottom of it!
