It has not rained one single day since we've been here! Not even a drop! It only rains during the rainy, or monsoon, season. But when it rains, it pours! Generally, in Pune, the rainy season is late June-August(ish) but that varies in other parts of India. If you can imagine massive amounts of rain with no sort of drainage system for run-off in the streets then you can get a picture for how gross monsoon season can be here. Water just flows freely through the streets gathering trash & debris and tearing up the roads. It is not the time when you want to be riding in an auto rickshaw!
Although it hasn't rained since we've been here, it did hail briefly the other day in another part of the city. Normally that isn't very newsworthy... we're from Oklahoma and it hails all the time. However the Indians went crazy because they don't get hail very often and they think it is good for your digestive system when you eat it! They were gathering it up and eating the ice pieces because "it is very nice for your system." I was trying to explain to Annie not to eat it because it is actually bad for you due to all the pollution (the air is SO polluted here). She couldn't believe that but I made her promise not to eat it anymore! :)
