What is the key word for living in India? FLEXIBILITY!!
If you live here & have the expectation that nothing will ever go as planned or be what you expected then you will be fine & when things do meet your expectations... you are thankful & excited!
That principle applies to every area of life here (& makes for some good laughs) but today, it played out at our friend, Maggie's third birthday party! We showed up for the party & most everyone else was at least 45 minutes late! (Indians are NEVER, EVER on time- it's their culture...they are not trying to be rude). The horse was actually only 30 minutes late but the snow cone man was an hour & 15 minutes late and then once he set up the machine and all the kids got in line for a snow cone, they still had to wait until the guy who was the designated "server" arrived. Turns out the guys that brought the machine only set it up, they don't serve the snow cones! ha!
The kids had a BLAST! All our friends from the society came & the parents all got to visit so it was a great day! Happy Birthday, Maggie!
